Why This Site Exists
There is no single Greenbrier County property-record file. The County Clerk records deeds, mortgages, liens, and plats; the Assessor maintains taxable values and exemption information; the Sheriff’s Tax Office collects real-property taxes; and West Virginia’s parcel viewer displays mapped parcels. We organize those separate routes, identify what each source can establish, and point readers toward the office that can verify a particular document.
What You Will Find Here
- Guides by record: property search, deed records, tax records, and parcel maps
- Local record holders: Greenbrier County Clerk, Assessor, Sheriff’s Tax Office, and the state parcel and assessment services they use
- Search walkthroughs: how to search by address, owner, or parcel; how to trace a chain of title; how to read a tax bill and a parcel map
- Access details: the County Clerk’s published copy fees, office contact information, and how the West Virginia Freedom of Information Act applies to public-record requests
What We Cannot Do
This is an independent reference, not a Greenbrier County government service. We do not hold or change records kept by the County Clerk, Assessor, Sheriff, state agencies, or courts. The practical limits are straightforward:
- We cannot pull, certify, or change any record on your behalf
- We cannot perform a title search or guarantee clear ownership
- We cannot appraise a property or set its assessed value
- We cannot give legal advice about a deed, a boundary, or a tax dispute
- We cannot certify that every portal, fee, or office procedure is unchanged; confirm time-sensitive details with the custodian
Only the custodian office can confirm, certify, or correct a record, and only a title company or licensed surveyor can settle title or a boundary. Nothing found through this site may be used for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
